Visibility controls
You control exactly how visible you are on Splashd. All visibility options are free and can be changed at any time under Settings → Privacy → Visibility mode.
Visible (default): Your profile appears in the grid and on the live map. Other users can find you by distance or search.
Incognito: You can browse profiles and send messages, but you don't appear in other users' grids or on the map. Users you're already in conversation with can still see you.
Hidden: No presence on the app. Your profile is invisible to everyone, including existing contacts. Use this if you need a complete break without deleting your account.
Location precision: Separately from visibility, you can set your location to Exact, Approximate (±500m), or Hidden. Change this under Settings → Privacy → Location precision.
Who can message you: Set to Everyone (default) or Only people I've tapped first. Change this under Settings → Privacy → Messaging.
Blocking and reporting
Blocking and reporting are always available — on every profile, in every conversation. Use them freely; there's no limit and no penalty for using them.
Block: Open a profile, tap the three-dot menu (⋯), and tap Block. Blocked users can't see your profile, send you messages, or find you in search. Blocking is immediate and silent — they are not notified.
Manage your block list: Go to Settings → Privacy → Blocked users to see everyone you've blocked. Tap any name to unblock them.
Report: From a profile or a conversation, tap the three-dot menu and select Report. Choose a reason (harassment, fake profile, underage, explicit content without consent, other). Reports go to our moderation team and are reviewed 24/7 — usually within a few hours.
Content reported by multiple independent users is automatically escalated to priority review. Accounts confirmed to be in violation are suspended or permanently banned depending on severity.
The person you report is never told who reported them. You can block and report someone at the same time — there's no need to keep them unblocked for the report to go through.
Verified badges
A verified badge on a Splashd profile means the user has completed photo verification — they've confirmed that their profile photos match the real person behind the account. Verification is free and takes a few minutes.
Go to Settings → Account → Verify your profile.
You'll be asked to take a short selfie video matching a specific pose. This is compared to your profile photos by our automated system.
Verification is usually completed within a few minutes. You'll receive an in-app notification when your badge is added.
The verified badge is shown on your profile card in the grid and on the map. If you later change your main profile photo significantly, you may be asked to re-verify.
Our AI checks verification submissions first; any ambiguous case is escalated to a human moderator. AI is advisory — humans make the final decision on approvals and denials.
What data Splashd collects — and what it doesn't
Splashd collects the data needed to run the app and nothing more. We do not sell your data to advertisers or third parties — ever.
What we collect: Your account details (email, username), profile information you provide, messages, photos you upload, and location data when the app is active.
What we don't do: We don't sell your data to data brokers, advertisers, or any third party. We don't share your location with advertisers. We don't build advertising profiles from your data.
Location data: Used only to calculate distances and power the live map. Stored in encrypted form and deleted when you delete your account.
Deleting your data: Deleting your account permanently removes all your data from our servers after a 30-day grace period. You can also request data export before deletion — see Settings → Privacy → Download my data.

24/7 moderation and trust
Splashd operates around-the-clock content moderation. Our team combines automated AI screening with human review — because AI alone misses context that humans catch.
Photo moderation: Every photo uploaded to public profiles is screened automatically before it goes live. AI flags potential violations; humans review ambiguous cases.
User reports: Reports submitted by users go to our moderation queue. Reports are reviewed 24/7 and we aim to act on clear violations within a few hours.
Content reported by multiple users is automatically escalated to priority review, regardless of whether each individual report is the first or the third.
Appeals: If you believe a moderation action against your account was incorrect, email support@splashd.app with your username and a short explanation. Appeals are reviewed by a different member of the team to the original decision.
If you believe you're in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first. You can then email support@splashd.app with "URGENT" in the subject line — these are flagged for immediate attention.
