What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites and applications you visit. They allow services to remember information about your session or preferences, making future visits faster and more personalised.
Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, and pixel tags — we refer to all of these collectively as “cookies” in this policy.
Types of Cookies We Use
Essential Cookies
These cookies are strictly necessary for Splashd to function and cannot be disabled. They include authentication tokens that keep you logged in, security cookies that protect against cross-site request forgery, the first-party confirmation that you are old enough to enter the public map directory, and load-balancing cookies that route your requests efficiently.
Functional Cookies
Functional cookies remember your preferences and settings — for example, your preferred language, theme selection, and saved filter settings — so you do not need to reconfigure them on each visit.
Analytics Cookies
Analytics cookies help us understand how users interact with Splashd, which features are most used, and where we can improve the experience. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
Examples include: page views, feature usage counts, and performance metrics.
Advertising Cookies
On public map-directory pages, we may display non-intrusive ads supplied by ExoClick. After you confirm that you are 18 or older, ads are enabled by default. Cookies and similar identifiers may be used for ad delivery, fraud prevention, frequency capping, measurement, and personalization. You may disable ads at any time.
Visitors who choose Disable ads can still use the directory without loading ExoClick or its advertising cookies.
How We Use Cookies
Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies on Splashd are set by third-party partners who provide services on our behalf. These may include:
- Analytics providers — to measure performance and usage patterns
- Cloud infrastructure providers — for load balancing and security
- Payment processors — for subscription billing on Splashd Plus
- ExoClick — to serve and measure ads on public map-directory pages unless you disable ads. See the ExoClick Privacy Policy
Third-party cookies are governed by each partner’s own privacy and cookie policies. We encourage you to review those policies directly.
Managing Your Cookies
Use Splashd's privacy control below to disable or re-enable advertising cookies. You can also manage non-essential cookies through your device or browser settings:
- iOS — Safari: Settings → Safari → Privacy & Security
- Android — Chrome: Chrome → Settings → Site Settings → Cookies
- Desktop browsers: accessible through each browser’s Privacy or Security settings
Blocking all cookies will prevent Splashd from keeping you logged in and may disable other core features. It may also cause the map age gate to appear on every visit. We recommend leaving essential cookies enabled.
