Creating and editing your profile
Your profile is the first thing other users see. A complete profile — a real photo, a short bio, and your tags — gets significantly more views than a blank one. To edit your profile, go to the Profile tab and tap the edit icon.
Display name and username: Your display name is shown on your profile card. Your username is used in searches and @mentions. You can change your username once every 30 days in Settings → Account.
Headline: Up to 60 characters shown under your name on the grid. Use it as a short hook — "into hiking and awful horror films" works better than a stats list.
Bio: Up to 500 characters. Be direct and honest. Specific details — a hobby, a place you love, what you're looking for — make your profile memorable.
Tags and looking-for: Select identity tags, tribe tags, and what you're looking for (hookups, dates, relationship, friends, chat, networking). Accurate tags help users filter and set the right expectations.
Optional details: Height, body type, position, relationship status, pronouns, HIV status. All optional — share what you're comfortable with.
Tap Preview before saving to see exactly how your profile looks to other users. Updates go live immediately once saved.
Profile photos
You can add up to nine public photos to your profile. The first photo is your main profile image — the one shown on the grid and map. Choose something clear and recent where your face is visible.
In the profile editor, tap the photo grid. Tap + to add a photo from your camera roll, or take a new one directly in the app.
Drag and drop photos to reorder them. The first slot is your main image.
Photos go through a brief automated moderation check before appearing publicly. Most photos are approved within a few seconds; some take a few minutes during high-traffic periods.
To delete a photo, long-press it in the editor and tap Remove.
Public photos must not contain nudity. You can add explicit photos to your private album — these are only shared by request. See the Photos & Media guide for full upload rules and private album details.
Voice intro
A voice intro is a short audio clip (up to 30 seconds) that plays on your profile. It's one of the features that makes Splashd stand out — users are far more likely to message someone whose voice they've heard. Recording one takes under a minute.
In the profile editor, tap the Voice intro section.
Tap the microphone icon to start recording. Speak naturally — just say a few words about yourself or what you're up to. Up to 30 seconds.
Tap Stop to finish, then play it back. If you're happy, tap Save. If not, tap Re-record.
To remove your voice intro later, go to the profile editor, tap Voice intro, and tap Delete.
Account settings
Account settings cover your email, password, phone number, and security options. Access them from the Profile tab → gear icon → Account.
Email address: Tap Email to update. You'll need to verify the new address before it becomes active. Check your spam folder if the verification email doesn't arrive within a few minutes.
Password: Tap Security → Change password. Enter your current password, then set a new one (minimum 8 characters). Use a password you haven't used on other services.
Two-factor authentication (2FA): Strongly recommended. Enable it under Security → Two-factor authentication. You can use an authenticator app or SMS.
Linked accounts: Connect or disconnect Sign in with Apple / Google under Account → Linked accounts. Linking makes future logins faster but isn't required.
If you've lost access to your account, email support@splashd.app with your username and the email address you registered with. Our team responds within 24 hours.
Privacy and visibility settings
All privacy controls are free. Access them under Settings → Privacy.
Visibility mode: Visible (default) — you appear in the grid and on the map. Incognito — you can browse but don't appear in others' grids or on the map. Hidden — no presence on the app at all.
Location precision: Exact, Approximate (±500m), or Hidden. With location hidden you remain visible in the grid but your map pin disappears.
Who can message you: Everyone (default) or Only people I've tapped. You can block or mute individual users at any time regardless of this setting.
Read receipts: Toggle under Privacy → Read receipts. Turning them off means others won't know when you've read their messages — but you also won't see theirs.
Online status: Control whether others can see when you're active. Toggle under Privacy → Show online status.
Deleting your account
You can delete your Splashd account and all associated data at any time. This is permanent and cannot be undone after the 30-day grace period.
Go to Settings → Account → Delete account.
Review what will be deleted: your profile, photos, conversations, and all associated data.
Enter your password to confirm and tap Delete my account. Your account is immediately deactivated and marked for deletion.
30-day grace period: Your account is recoverable for 30 days if you change your mind — just log back in. After 30 days, all data is permanently and irreversibly deleted from our servers.
Consider switching to Hidden visibility mode instead of deleting. Your account, conversations, and everything else are preserved — you're just invisible to other users until you switch back.
