Silom Soi 2 and Soi 4, the beating heart of gay Southeast Asia.
Bangkokat a glance.
Bangkok is the gay capital of Southeast Asia, and in 2025 it made history: Thailand became the first country in the region to legalise same-sex marriage. The city's scene is famously easy to navigate, concentrated on two tiny lanes off Silom Road. Soi 4 is the bar street where the night begins; Soi 2 is the club lane where it ends. Together they pack in clubs, drag bars, and open-air bars that draw a crowd from across Asia and the world.
What makes gay Bangkok so welcoming is how compact and friendly it is. The whole core scene fits on two adjacent sois: Soi 4 for chilled open-air bars and the best drag shows in the city, Soi 2 for DJ Station and the dance floors that run past 2am. Thailand's marriage equality law took effect in January 2025, the first in Southeast Asia, and Bangkok now throws a fast-growing Pride, with eyes on hosting WorldPride in 2030.

Best time to visit
April, for the Songkran festival and the gCircuit parties, and late May into June, for Bangkok Pride, are the two big peaks. Thailand is hot year-round; November to February is the coolest, driest stretch. The Silom scene runs every night.
Where to stay
Stay in Silom or Bang Rak to be a short walk from Soi 2 and Soi 4 and the whole core scene. Silom is central and superbly connected by the BTS Skytrain and the MRT metro.
Getting around
The Silom gay scene is tiny: Soi 2 and Soi 4 are a minute apart, both off Silom Road, and the whole night is walkable. The BTS Skytrain stops at Sala Daeng, right by the sois, and taxis and tuk-tuks are cheap and everywhere.
Good to know
Thailand legalised same-sex marriage in January 2025, the first country in Southeast Asia to do so, and Bangkok is famously warm and welcoming to LGBTQ+ visitors. The Soi 4 bars are free to enter; the Soi 2 clubs may charge a cover that includes a drink.
